History fest in auburn Indiana
Well folks, sorry this took so long to get posted but I have been very tired and busy with real life.
Last weekend Vikings North America – Gladsheim chapter participated in history fest 2009 at the national World War II museum, sometimes referred to as the victory museum, in auburn Indiana. This was a time line event with a main focus on world wars I & II but has recently been expanded to include other groups and time lines including civil war, Vietnam and VIKINGS!
Due to a case or real life with in the chapter, we had a very small encampment. Participants include:
Jim and Mandy Schutte
Ned and Jill Schutte
Alex Schutte
Daniel Carson
Chris Petty
Unfortunately Chris was not able to be there for both days but she did make the local newspaper.
Despite our small size we set up a fair sized camp. We had two tents and two sails and several displays that included: cooking, woodcutting, fiber dying, an armory, leather working, games and weaving. Plus we tried to do a small combat training display.
All in all I think it went well. We seemed to be well received by the public and the other re-enactors. In fact we have been invited back again for next years show and may have picked up two more similar shows, one in a few weeks and the other next year.
